Insights and Reflections: Tropical Depression
Today I learned that a tropical
depression is an organized system of clouds and thunderstorms with a
defined, closed surface circulation and maximum sustained
winds of less than 34 knots (39 mph). It has no eye and does not
typically have the organization or the spiral shape of more powerful storms.
However, it is already a low-pressure system, hence the name
"depression". The practice of the Philippines is to name
tropical depressions from their own naming convention when the depressions are
within the Philippines' area of responsibility.
I will apply my
learning about this phenomenon in my daily living and to other lessons related
to this.
Learning about this
phenomenon is important because it may cause drastic events that may affect our
living and our community. It is also important to learn tropical depression for
us to understand why this occurs and to be fully aware in case this may occur.
On a larger scale, I
will share my learning about this phenomenon to others because I want them to
know what a tropical depression is. I also want them to be ready and aware
about the effects of this phenomenon.
I want to know more
about the effects of tropical depression, its causes and how we can be more
ready if this may happen and also other weather related ideas.
